Marina Boudart Harris is a southern
California native studying in the vocal studio of Shigemi Matsumoto, and a
graduate of California State University, Long Beach. Recent operatic roles
include Lucretia in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia at USC Thornton
School of Music, La Messagiera in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, La Zia Principessa
in Giacomo Puccini's Suor Angelica with the Operafestival di Roma,
and the Old Lady in Bernstein’s Candide with the California
State University Long Beach Opera Institute. She has also sung the roles of
Carmen in Bizet’s Carmen, Third Lady in Mozart’s The
Magic Flute, Marcellina in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Orfeo
in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice in Opera Scenes at CSULB. Miss
Harris was also the mezzo-soprano soloist in Bach's B Minor Mass
with the Los Angeles Bach Festival in November of 2008. Other recent oratorio
and orchestral works include both Beethoven’s Mass in C and
W.A. Mozart's Solemn Vespers of the Confessor with the CSULB Symphony
Orchestra, University and Chamber Choirs as the mezzo-soprano soloist. In
2007, Miss Harris won First Place in the New Century Singers Vocal Competition,
and was a recipient of the Still Vocal Scholarship and the Beverly August
Summer Study Abroad Scholarship. Marina has participated in masterclasses
with Suzanna Guzman and Thor Steingraber of the Los Angeles Opera, Andreas
Mitisek of the Long Beach Opera, Alexander Malta of the San Francisco Opera,
Charles Castronovo of the Los Angeles Opera, and most recently with legendary
mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne with the Classical Singers Association in November
2008. Marina plans to attend the Thornton School of Music at the University
of Southern California in the fall to pursue a masters degree in voice.
